I am so excited to be writing about working and shooting lifestyle photography with my friend, Lisa Cohen. I've known Lisa for over 17 years now and we are deeply connected through kids, a passion for the outdoors, a commitment to leading a mindful life and a shared enthusiasm for a glass of wine or an evening attending one of the many events in Aspen that help to make this town such a special place. We immediately go deep when we talk but we laugh a lot and try hard not to take life too seriously. In all the years that we've known each other I don't think that we've ever pissed each other off which I think shows a high level of trust and respect for each other!
As Lisa and I ski, hike, and bike together often I have a plethora of action images of her playing outside. When I first met Lisa she was a much-loved fitness pro but throughout the years she has earned multiple degrees and certifications in health and wellness and has added Certified Nutritionist, Exercise Physiologist and Wellness Advocate to her resume. Her goal? In her words to "help women transform their lives by teaching them not just how to live well, but how to become the absolute BEST version of themselves". OK, although I try and eat well and work out as often as I can, I am not the ideal candidate for Lisa's line of work. To be honest, I don't like the structure and I'm simply not disciplined enough. But because of Lisa's contagious enthusiasm, positive energy and her very apparent love for life she reels me in and I find myself doing detox programs that I would never consider doing with anyone else!
So it was a natural fit when she asked me to take lifestyle images for her website, http://www.lisacohenfitness.com. We've now had two separate photo sessions where I capture her in outfits and locations that best visually describe who she is and what she does. These photo shoots are a ton of fun for me as I love fashion (style is a hugely important component of photography for me) as much as Lisa does and I enjoy photographing her in different parts of our valley as she tries to visually express the importance of health and fitness. Lisa radiates both of these things and makes the photo session pretty easy for me!
