Share on TwrJana and Hal decided to leave the heat of Austin, Texas behind and to get married on top of Aspen Mountain. The day began with all the bridesmaids and groomsmen getting ready at a beautiful rented house in nearby Woody Creek. Jana found the perfect Victor Harper Couture gown at a local boutique, Signature Bridal Salon. She chose Tiffany blue Badgley Mischka Goodie pumps and had glittery ugg boots nearby in case they were needed. Hal's teenage daughters wore knee-length Peau de Soie dresses with Badgley Mischka Petal pumps and looked very sophisticated yet whimsical. Hal wore a Hickey Freeman suit and surprised Jana with a surprise message sewn on the inside, "Forever in Your Pocket".Suzanne Dupre-Landman, a talented and local event planner, soon had everyone out the door and transported to the base of the gondola. It was an overcast day providing gorgeous suffused light and the low hanging clouds provided a dramatic but spectacular backdrop to the already stunning location. The bride was absolutely beautiful and the ceremony, on the Little Nell Wedding Deck, was full of warmth and humor. As we were all getting ready for portraits after the ceremony a big summer storm suddenly and quickly moved in. We all ran to the gondola for a quick download but not in time as they quickly shut it down due to a thunder storm. After waiting it out a decision was made to have 4-wheel drive vehicles come to the rescue and drive the stranded wedding party safely into Aspen. The dirt mountain roads were slick and it was an adventurous ride down. The bonus was a beautiful double rainbow over the town as we approached town. The reception was held at a private residence with a family style seated dinner. A large farm table was used with mismatched family china which worked well with the "mountain chic" theme but also made the place settings very personal to Hal and Jana. The weather cooperated and it was a beautiful Colorado evening while lovely classical music being played in the background.
